Jun 17 Punjab Kings co-owner Ness Wadia thinks the IPL should now be hosted in two separate halves with a much higher number of matches after the BCCI made a “killing” at the media rights auction with a USD 6.2 billion contract.
By splitting the media rights into four bundles, the largest cricketing organization, BCCI, was able to raise Rs 483,90 crore through the e-auction, which is around three times more than the previous cycle.
The IPL might thus play 94 games throughout the course of the following five years, and according to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, the league will have a dedicated two and a half months in the 2017 ICC FTP season.
If a long season lasting four months can’t be had, why not contemplate two seasons, one in India and one in a different location every year? Indians can be found all over the world. More games are definitely needed, according to Wadia.
