Sanju Samson struck 86 runs nonstop for India against South Africa in the opening One-Day International at Lucknow.
Sanju Samson, a right-handed batsman, might not have been able to help India defeat South Africa in the first one-day encounter. He is being praised, however, for his 86-run innings against the Proteas. Samson, who is known for his fierce ball-smacking, originally took his time and bizarrely attempted to make the game last longer. Samson gave his team a chance by hitting 15 runs on just three balls in the final over, when hosts India needed 30 runs to win. However, South Africa went on to win by a score of nine runs as a result of how he handled the fourth delivery of the over.

After the game, former South African bowler Dale Steyn praised Samson and said that he may knock sixes like Yuvraj Singh.
“I prayed to God not to allow this to happen as soon as KG (Kagiso Rabada) bowled the no-ball as the penultimate delivery of his over. Because, when dealing with someone like Sanju, especially considering his physicality and level of conviction, you just never know. When I saw him play in the IPL, I was astonished by how easily he could overcome obstacles. Steyn spoke with Star Sports, the host broadcaster, after the game, focusing on the final two overs.
Shamsi was scheduled to bowl the final over, so Samson was aware that he had a bad day. When KG bowled the no ball, I was alarmed. Sanju is the kind of person who can be like Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh), making those six-figure shots to push the team over the finish line when the team needs more than 30.
Eventually, Samson managed to score 86 without falling, helped by 9 fours and 3 sixes. In the end, India lost the opening ODI by 9 runs. In a post-game interview, Sanju talked about his thought process and strategy for taking on Tabraiz Shamsi.
Spending some time in the center is always beneficial because our goal as players is to lead our team to victory. I missed on two shots, so I’ll work harder the next time. But I’m happy with my contribution. The bowlers for Tabraiz Shamsi were doing a terrific job, although they were a tad pricey today.
