On Virat Kohli, a former captain of England

Former England Captain: “That Will Be His Great Legacy” Regarding Virat Kohli

According to former England captain Michael Atherton, Virat Kohli’s biggest legacy will be his promotion of Test cricket.

Virat Kohli hasn’t scored a century in an international cricket match since November 2019. He’s going through a hard patch right now. Kohli was dismissed for 11 in the opening inning of the current, postponed the fifth Test against England by Matthew Potts. The right-handed batter has won accolades for inspiring and effectively leading the India Test team, though. Former England captain Michael Atherton talked about what Kohli’s big legacy will be on Saturday and voiced his desire for the Indian batter to regain his “best form.”

“I know Rahul Dravid a little better than Virat Kohli. Speaking to both of them was beneficial. Rahul is someone I had the pleasure of competing against. So I hope Virat can recapture his greatest form at the plate after a couple of trying years, and I wish him luck in his new position as the head coach of the Indian side. “Ahead of Day 2 of play, Atherton spoke with David Gower, Ajay Jadeja, and Harsha Bhogle on the Sony Sports Network.

I am a huge admirer of his batting, cricket, and the way he has led the Indian Test team forward in his capacity as captain, the speaker added. I also believe that his greatest legacy will be the way he has pushed Test cricket.

So Kohli led Team India in 68 Test matches, winning 40 and losing 17 of them. Kohli guided his team to a Test series victory in Australia in 2018–19.

In a day-night Test match against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in November 2019, Kohli last recorded a century.

He hasn’t made it to the three-figure mark since then. Kohli faced 19 balls and struck two fours in his 11-run performance in the first innings in the current Test match against England before being removed by Potts.
