Barcelona overcomes Real Madrid 1-0 in Las Vegas thanks to another goal from Raphinha.

Raphinha scores again as Barcelona overcomes Real Madrid 1-0 in the Las Vegas Clasico.

So in their Las Vegas Clasico on Saturday, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 1-0 thanks to a goal from Raphinha, who has now scored twice in as many games. At the $1.97 billion, 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, Raphinha scored the game’s lone goal. Raphinha was purchased from Leeds United of the Premier League earlier this month for $60 million. He made his debut in Inter Miami’s 6-0 thumping. The Brazilian was in the perfect position to intercept a sloppy ball from Real’s Eder Militao towards the top of the area.

In the 27th minute, he took a moment to gather himself before unleashing a left-footed shot into the top right corner of the net to give Barcelona a 1-0 lead.

So the passion for the long-running rivalry was present in the second Clasico ever played in the United States. The match marked the fourth Clasico held outside of Spain.

In the 18th minute of their opening exhibition game, Real Madrid came close to scoring. Federico Valverde, however, missed the target with a 25-yard volley after beating Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. After a shoddy clearance by Jordi Alba, Valverde was the one to capture the ball.

Two minutes later, Pedri received the ball from Eduardo Camavinga in front of Real’s goal. Barcelona was given a chance that they missed. When Pedri passed the ball to Fati, the Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was forced to move. But Fati’s shot went wide of the far post.

So overall, Barcelona kept the action moving against the reigning Champions League and La Liga champions in the first half. Robert Lewandowski, a Polish striker who recently joined from Bayern Munich, was welcomed with enthusiasm.

Jordi Alba was given a yellow card for slidingly tackling Militao. The finish of the first half was disputed.

Players had to step in to keep newcomer Antonio Rudiger and Ronald Araujo of Barcelona away after some shoving and pushing turned physical.

Lewandowski’s night came to an end without a goal when, as part of a flurry of replacements, he was replaced by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at halftime.

Aubameyang missed a chance to score with a header from the middle of the box off a cross from Raphinha only two minutes into the second half.

After a struggle between Lucas Vazquez and the substitute Marco Asensio in the 59th minute. Vazquez threw the ball back to Asensio in front of goal, but Asensio missed the goal.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team made a brave effort to tie the score in the final seconds. But it was clear that Karim Benzema, the French superstar, was absent. Because joining his teammates in Los Angeles just days before, he missed the game after the club granted him an extended holiday.

At Oracle Park in San Francisco on Tuesday, Real Madrid will play host to Club America of Mexico as part of their ongoing US tour. Barcelona plays Juventus of Italy that same night in Dallas.

Real Madrid takes on Juventus on July 30 as Barcelona takes on the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer.
