Suryakumar Yadav outperforms a Pakistani star in India. South Africa, who significantly shattered the T20I record
Suryakumar blasted three sixes in the first Twenty20 International match between South Africa and India, bringing his year-to-date total to 45.
Suryakumar Yadav is currently the batter with the most sixes in a calendar year. And in 2022, when the game will be played in its shortened form, he won’t be stopped. He accomplished this during India’s opening Twenty20 match in a three-match series against South Africa in Kerala. The wristy right-hander seemed to be batting on a different surface during the game as he sought to chase down a low score of 107 on a challenging ball with a lot of swing and bounce.

He has now surpassed Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, who previously held the record after smashing 42 sixes in 2021. Veteran New Zealander Martin Guptill sits third with 41 sixes in 2021. Suryakumar has broken Rizwan’s record in just 21 innings, which is remarkable given that Rizwan required 26 innings to hit his 42 sixes.
India had trouble getting going during their 107-run chase, losing Rohit Sharma (#0), Virat Kohli, and other key players to Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje for cheap (3).
After the powerplay, India had 17/2 in their six overs. KL Rahul (51*) and Suryakumar Yadav (50*), who were both playing brilliantly, gave the game a boost. Rahul served as an anchor while Suryakumar was the aggressor. A game-winning 93-run partnership between the two players helped India win by eight wickets.
